95-year-old Sid Zimman of Oceanside, CA appears on episode #567 of Hometown Heroes, airing March 14-17, 2019. A recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, Zimman’s Marine Corps service during World War II found him in the rear-facing gunner’s seat of an SBD Dauntless dive bomber with VMSB-341 in the Pacific.
