83-year-old Frank Hokr of Fresno, CA appears on episode #27 of Hometown Heroes, airing January May 18, 2008. A native of Cicero, IL, Hokr served with the 461st Bomb Group during World War II. Shot down on his very first mission on December 17, 1944, he spent the better part of 5 months as a prisoner of war.
A longtime docent at the Veterans Memorial Museum, home of the Legion of Valor in downtown Fresno, Hokr also served during the Korean War, completing 53 missions with the 452nd Bomb Group.
