99-year-old Betty Rosevear of San Diego, CA appears on episode #672 of Hometown Heroes, airing March 13-15, 2021. Born in Alberta, Canada, and raised on a farm near Kelso, WA, Betty enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps in 1944.
Before becoming one of the more than 300,000 American women to serve in the Armed Forces, Betty experienced the worst part of war: losing a loved one. Her young husband, Billy Huffman, a B-17 pilot from Oregon, was shot down and killed on February 20, 1944.
Excellent interview. Betty and Vic are such incredible people. I was very honored to meet them both and hear their stories in 2018.
