Episode #699 of Hometown Heroes, airing September 18-20, 2021, marks National Prisoner of War & Missing in Action Recognition Day with the memories of two ex-POWs who were both shot down over Nazi-held territory during World War II. The third Friday in September each year is dedicated to the memories of those who became prisoners of war, as well as those Americans who remain missing in action.
