87-year-old Don Mallick of Lancaster, CA appears on episode #534 of Hometown Heroes, airing July 26-29, 2018. A native of Neville Island, PA, Mallick was a Navy fighter pilot before moving into a long career in flight tests. He piloted 125 different aircraft, including the LLRV – Lunar Landing Research Vehicle.

Mallick has written about his 11,000-flight hour career in the book The Smell of Kerosene: A Test Pilot’s Odyssey.
