90-year-old Walter Fees of Bakersfield, CA appears on the 300th episode of Hometown Heroes, debuting February 1, 2014. Mr. Fees, a native of Likely, CA, served with the 517th Parachute Infantry Regimental Combat Team during World War II.

    I am not sure if you heard, but we lost Walt on October 7th, 2016. I was honored that he called me his friend. I had his pictures from the war restored and reprinted for him.

    Thank you for recording his memories and preserving them. I heard them almost every day and never tired of his company.
